At some point, in early 2009, 06-08720 was deployed with the "Flippers" in support of contingency operations during Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). On 13 June 2009, 06-08720 experienced an aft droop stop failure and during engine shut down an aft rotor blade contacted the fuselage causing structural damage. As of 15 August 2009, 06-08720 was at Kandahar, Afghanistan, undergoing repair. At some point, 06-08720 was assigned to B Company - "Pachyderms", 6th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB), 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
