          67-18487

 

 

             67-18487, Boeing build number B-457, was a CH-47B helicopter. The U.S. Army acceptance date was 12 February 1968. The administrative strike date was 5 February 1970. 67-18487 accumulated at least 1,198.0 aircraft hours. At some point, 67-18487 was assigned to an unknown unit in the Republic of Vietnam (RVN) and remained there until it received major battle damage. The aircraft received ground fire from a .51 caliber machine gun. The airframe sustained damaged to the STA 482 manufacturing splice and the number two engine. A decision was made to recover the aircraft back to the Continental United States for repair (CONUS). While enroute to New Cumberland Army Depot (NCAD), near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the C-133 cargo aircraft that 67-18487 was being transported in crashed. 67-18487 was lost in the accident near Lowry Air Force Base (AFB), Colorado. The last known location of 67-18487 was Colorado. Aircraft status: Crashed.
