          Damaged Engine Mounts

Over the years, several helicopters have had their forward engine mounts damaged by improperly installed or mis-aligned engine cowlings. Aircrews should take a close look at the engine area during Daily or Pre-Flight Inspections to see whether or not the cowling is contacting the engine mount. Failure to correct a bad installation can result in the replacement of the mount - no small task to be sure.
